Chavit Singson withdraws from senate race

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson announced on Sunday that he was backing out from the 2025 Senatorial Elections due to health reasons.

Prior to his announcement Singson was hospitalized due to pneumonia.

Speaking before his supporters in Mall of Asia Arena, Singson said he cannot sacrifice his health in the campaign and the work of a senator is no joke.

Once elected, Singson promised to give transport groups free modern public utility vehicles (PUVs) and bank accounts and ATM cards for the masses.

In 2001, Singson accused Former President Joseph Estrada of receiving bribe from illegal gambling operators which eventually led to the latter’s impeachment and resignation.
