The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Subic seized 98.332 kilograms of kush estimated to be worth P162 million from a distressed sailing yacht at the Subic Bay Yacht Club.
The seizure took place during an inspection conducted by the BOC on September 2 after the agency received intelligence information about the vessel.
The yacht had requested emergency shelter and repairs because of bad weather, according to the BOC.
The vessel had come from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and was originally bound for Taiwan.
The yacht was carrying crew members who were all Thai and Malaysian nationals.
The BOC Port of Subic led the operation with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Law Enforcement Department, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Justice, and other local officials and personnel of the Subic Bay Yacht Club.
The seized kush was immediately placed under the custody of the PDEA, according to the BOC.
The agency said the confiscated substance would undergo the appropriate disposition and legal process.
The BOC did not state in the provided information that the crew members had been arrested, charged, or identified as the owners of the seized kush.
