Authorities rescued two workers who had been trapped for nine days inside a tunnel at a hydropower plant in Nepal.
According to authorities, rescuers heard voices coming from inside the tunnel before successfully bringing the two men to safety.
A medical team was immediately deployed to assess their condition.
The tunnel is located at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Plant, where 42 workers were initially reported missing following widespread flooding and landslides.
The tunnel, which stretches for more than four kilometers and leads to the plant’s underground powerhouse, posed significant challenges to rescuers due to the dangerous conditions in the area.
Search and rescue operations remain ongoing for other workers reported missing at various hydropower projects along the Trishuli River.
More than 900 workers are estimated to be missing from different energy projects in the mountainous areas of the Himalayas.
Meanwhile, more than 1,200 people have reportedly died in flash floods across Nepal.
