Survivor found alive after 3 days at sea in Cebu

Amid the devastation left by Typhoon Tino, a story of survival has emerged from Cebu’s northern waters.

Christian, 33, a resident of Sitio Buswang, Barangay Cantood in Balamban, was rescued after drifting for three days and two nights in the sea. He was found by a fisherman in San Remigio, around 80 kilometers away, according to local officials.

Authorities said Christian was swept away when raging floods tore through his home in Balamban at the height of the storm. He clung to a floating banana tree trunk as he drifted through rough waters and strong winds.

Local authorities praised the fisherman’s quick response, calling it a “rare moment of hope” amid widespread loss and destruction.

The incident has drawn attention to ongoing challenges in the province’s disaster response and early warning systems, as Typhoon Tino continues to affect several areas in the Visayas.

Christian’s survival, officials said, stands as a reminder of endurance and faith in the face of nature’s fury.
