Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will miss more than a week after suffering a minor quad injury during the team’s recent game against the Houston Rockets. The injury came on Thursday after consecutive collisions involving Rockets players Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson.
An MRI showed no major structural damage to Curry’s quad, but doctors advised several days of recovery before he can return to the lineup. Based on the team’s current timeline, Curry may be ready to play again on December 18, when the Warriors are scheduled to face the Phoenix Suns.
The Warriors will be without their top scorer as they approach a challenging slate of games. Golden State is set to play the New Orleans Pelicans on November 29. On December 2, they will go up against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champion and the league’s best team so far with an 18–1 record.
Golden State currently holds a 10–10 record and sits in eighth place in the Western Conference. Curry’s absence comes at a critical point, with the team trying to gain momentum after an uneven start to the season. His recovery timeline could affect how the Warriors perform against higher-ranked opponents in the coming days.
While the MRI results provided some relief for the team, the Warriors will need to make short-term adjustments as they await Curry’s return. The coaching staff is expected to rely on remaining starters and bench players to fill the gap left by the two-time MVP.
Curry will continue undergoing treatment and monitoring until he is cleared for full participation. The team has not announced any changes to his expected return date.
