Police have confirmed that a red vehicle was used by the suspects who shot and killed Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar Bucol Jr. in Digos City, Davao del Sur on Tuesday night. The information came from the Police Regional Office XI after reviewing available video evidence.
CCTV footage showed the red car entering the corner leading to Bucol’s home. Two minutes later, it was seen speeding away from the area. Investigators also noted that the same vehicle appeared in Bucol’s deleted livestream a few minutes before the incident. Authorities believe the presence of the car in both recordings may help build a clearer timeline.
Police Colonel Leo Ajero, the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Director, said officers are tracing the direction the vehicle took after leaving the crime scene. He added that the effort may help identify the suspects. Ajero did not provide additional information about the model or specific characteristics of the red car, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, Regional Director of PRO XI, earlier ordered that the case be solved within six months. He said all available CCTV recordings, witness accounts, and forensic evidence are being examined to understand the sequence of events and determine the motive behind the attack.
Authorities are also focusing on the growing reward money offered for information. The bounty has now reached P5.5 million for anyone who can identify the gunman or mastermind. Police hope the amount will encourage individuals to come forward and provide leads that could speed up the arrest of those responsible.
The investigation remains active as officers continue to track the red vehicle and gather more evidence in the killing of Captain Bucol.
