INC says Luneta rally seeks accountability, not politics

The Iglesia ni Cristo said its three-day peace rally at Luneta was not a political action or a push to unseat the government. Instead, the group described the gathering as a public call for accountability involving officials linked to alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

INC Minister Bienvenido Santiago Jr. explained that the rally focused on urging reforms in government processes. He said the effort was meant to highlight the need for responsible leadership and to remind authorities of their duty to uphold public trust.

Santiago stressed that the problem lies not in the government itself but in corrupt officials who may be involved in questionable transactions. He said the group’s message centered on transparency, noting that investigations must be open to the public to ensure that laws are followed and no information is concealed.

He also said the country must maintain peace as these issues unfold. According to him, INC made clear that disorder has no place in their activities and that the rally was intended to remain calm and respectful throughout.

The peace rally drew significant attention as it unfolded in the capital, with organizers reiterating that their call was for good governance and not political destabilization.
