Nick Carter is drawing renewed attention after a new Instagram post revealed his noticeably slimmer frame, igniting fan concern ahead of the Backstreet Boys’ upcoming Las Vegas residency.
On June 19, the 45-year-old singer posted a selfie from Sin City, dressed casually in a red Ford T-shirt and a gray baseball cap. While Carter appeared upbeat in the image, many fans were quick to notice his physical transformation.
“You look a bit too thin to me! I hope you’re okay,” one follower wrote. Another added, “He looks very unhealthy, hope he is okay!” Others speculated whether the weight loss was the result of a popular diabetes and weight-loss drug. “Maybe he took some Ozempic,” one commenter suggested.
However, a source close to Carter told Page Six the singer is not on any weight-loss medication. The insider attributed the physical changes to an intense rehearsal schedule and fitness regimen leading up to the group’s residency at The Sphere, which begins July 11.
Focused on fitness and preparing for the stage
Carter has openly discussed his fitness goals in the past. In a 2022 Instagram post, he shared that he had lost 20 pounds and hoped to drop 10 more. “I’m nowhere near where I’d like to be, but I’m closer to my goal,” he wrote.
According to sources, Carter has continued training steadily, preparing for 21 high-energy performances scheduled through August. The commitment to physical readiness has reportedly included personal training sessions, dietary adjustments, and regular rehearsals with his bandmates.
Despite the concern online, some fans were quick to defend the singer. “Let’s not comment on other people’s bodies,” one supporter wrote, urging others to focus on his music rather than his appearance.
Grief and transformation amid personal loss
Carter’s weight loss also comes after several years of emotional hardship. The Backstreet Boys star has faced the loss of three siblings: Leslie in 2012, Aaron in 2022, and Bobbie Jean in 2023. He has previously spoken about the deep emotional toll these losses have taken.
In an interview with E! News, Carter reflected on the death of his younger brother Aaron, stating, “It still hurts. We always managed to come back together—and now I can’t anymore.”
While Carter has not directly addressed the recent speculation about his health, his focus appears to remain on the upcoming shows. One fan, echoing a more optimistic view, commented under the Instagram post, “Best of luck—I’m sure the shows will be legendary.”
The Backstreet Boys’ “Into the Millennium” residency at The Sphere is set to be one of the summer’s most anticipated concert runs.
