Coast Guard District Bicol on heightened alert ahead of Typhoon Uwan

The Coast Guard District Bicol (CGDBCL) has activated its Deployable Response Groups (DRGs) and placed all its units under heightened alert in preparation for the possible impact of Typhoon Uwan.

More than 500 personnel, 18 floating assets, and 9 land mobile vehicles are now on standby for immediate deployment for evacuation and rescue operations.

The first wave of DRG personnel will be deployed today to Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Masbate—areas expected to experience severe effects of the weather disturbance.

Additional teams will also be dispatched tomorrow to Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte to assist in pre-emptive evacuations and humanitarian response.

According to the Coast Guard District Bicol, it will continue coordinating with local government units and other emergency response agencies to ensure orderly evacuations and maintain maritime safety in the region.
