Antique vlogger dies after alleged electric shock from videoke microphone

An Antique-based vlogger died after he was allegedly electrocuted while preparing to sing using a videoke microphone at a resort in Culasi, Antique, police said.

The victim was identified as Simon Capindit Jr., who was widely known online as “Super Estong.”

According to police, the incident occurred around noon on July 6.

Initial investigation showed that Capindit allegedly suffered an electric shock after touching the videoke microphone while preparing to sing.

He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment but was later declared dead.

Police Lieutenant Rolly Sabado, deputy chief of the Culasi Municipal Police Station, said the resort’s management informed investigators that another person had previously experienced an electrical grounding incident after holding the same videoke microphone.

Authorities are now examining the videoke equipment and other electrical facilities at the resort to determine whether negligence contributed to the incident.

Investigators are conducting technical inspections as part of the ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding Capindit’s death.

Police have not yet announced the results of the examination of the resort’s electrical system.

Meanwhile, authorities said they are waiting for the victim’s family to decide whether they will file appropriate charges in connection with the incident.

No additional details about the inspection or any possible liability have been released.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and determine whether safety lapses or other factors played a role in the fatal incident.
