Jeus Yape delivers Philippines’ fourth gold medal at Asian Games

Jeus Gabriel Derick Yape secured the Philippines’ fourth gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after ruling the mixed individual virtual taekwondo event at Toyohashi Gymnasium in Japan.

Yape defeated Vietnam’s Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang, 2-0, in the final after scoring 500 hit points in the opening round.

He advanced to the final after beating opponents from Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Kazakhstan.

The victory also gave Yape his second medal of the Games after winning bronze in the men’s individual poomsae event on Thursday.

Carlos Yulo and EJ Obiena are among the other Filipino athletes who have delivered gold medals for the Philippines in the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
