A farmer was gunned down outside his home in Cauayan town, Negros Occidental, after five armed men allegedly lured him out before opening fire Wednesday night, July 8.
The victim was identified by the Cauayan Municipal Police Station as Cyrus Tajedar, 29, a resident of Purok 4, Sitio Gut-ac, Barangay Abaca.
Initial investigation showed Tajedar was inside his house when the five suspects arrived at around 7:30 pm.
As he stepped outside, one of the armed men allegedly drew a 5.56-mm firearm and fired several shots, hitting the victim in different parts of his body.
The assailants fled immediately after the attack.
Police investigators recovered seven spent 5.56-mm cartridge cases from the crime scene.
Although the shooting happened on the evening of July 8, the incident was reported to authorities only on Thursday, July 9.
Police are conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the five suspects.*
