Weeks after her birth, Bissan was transported to Egypt by ambulance while still in an incubator, along with 28 other premature babies evacuated from a neonatal hospital.

In March this year, Bissan returned to Gaza with 10 other children from the same group, with assistance from the United Nations, allowing them to reunite with their families.

Sundus said Bissan did not immediately recognize her mother when they were finally reunited after more than two years apart.

The mother and daughter are now slowly rebuilding their bond as they adjust to life together again.
