The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) warned that it may no longer be able to proceed with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this November if the Supreme Court issues a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the postponement of the polls.
COMELEC said the agency is already running out of time, as a TRO could disrupt the scheduled filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) and the dissemination of election-related information, which could take up to two weeks.
The poll body also cited possible delays in the preparation and distribution of election paraphernalia, particularly those that still need to be transported to various areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.
COMELEC stressed that any last-minute changes to the election calendar could significantly affect its remaining preparations for the November polls.
