Vice President Sara Duterte skipped the scheduled hearing of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in relation to her alleged order to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Duterte’s lawyer Atty Paul Lim appeared before the NBI office in Pasay City to hand over the letter requesting to reschedule the hearing to a later date.
The vice president is being summoned to explain her alleged death threat against President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
In a letter addressed to NBI Director Retired Judge Jaime Santiago, Duterte’s lawyers said their client “could not appear in the hearing as she was attending to office matters requiring immediate attention as a consequence of the congressional probe on her confidential funds”.
Duterte also requested the NBI for a copy of the complaint filed against her and the questions that need her answer.
The NBI has set the next hearing on December 11, 2024.
NBI Director Santiago said if the vice president fails to appear, they will waive her right to be heard.
