Transport strike set from April 15 to 17

A transport group is set to stage another transport strike from April 15 to April 17 amid rising fuel prices.

In a press conference, Mar Valbuena, chairperson of MANIBELA, declared a large-scale strike that is expected to bring together various transport groups.

According to Valbuena, the action is a protest against what they describe as government inaction and a condemnation of alleged neglect, particularly by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The group estimates that around 500,000 jeepneys and other public transport vehicles will participate in the strike.

At the same time, they are calling for a rollback in fuel prices to ₱55 per liter, as well as the suspension of value-added tax (VAT) and excise tax on fuel.

They are urging that these measures be implemented within the week.
