DepEd probes classroom assault involving Bacolod students

The Department of Education has launched an investigation into a classroom assault involving three students at a school in Bacolod City.

The incident left a 17-year-old Grade 10 student with a head injury and wounds on his arm after he was allegedly attacked by two fellow students inside their classroom.

According to the victim, the two male students entered their classroom and physically assaulted him without warning.

Bacolod City Police Station 10 Chief Lieutenant Rowena Jean Magan said the confrontation reportedly began after the Grade 10 student allegedly joked with several female classmates, leading to teasing that eventually escalated into violence.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether there were deeper motives behind the assault.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education is working with school officials to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure appropriate action is taken.
