Three transmission lines remain unenergized after Typhoon Tino hits Visayas

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) continues its restoration work in the Visayas after Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) damaged several transmission lines, leaving three still unavailable as of 9 pm Wednesday, November 5.

NGCP crews restored the Ormoc–Baybay 69-kilovolt (kV) line, which serves the Leyte IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO IV), at around 5:41 pm on the same day.

The grid operator said the Ormoc–San Isidro 69kV line remains only partially energized.

This line supplies power to the Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO), Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOLECO), Leyte III Electric Cooperative (LEYECO III), and LEYECO V.

Meanwhile, the Maasin–Baybay 69kV line, which also serves LEYECO IV, and the Calongcalong–Asturias 69kV line, which powers the Cebu II Electric Cooperative (CEBECO II), remain fully de-energized.

NGCP also reported that one 230kV line remains unavailable, although it has yet to release details about the specific affected area.

The corporation has deployed line crews to conduct aerial and ground patrols, assess damages, and clear access routes. It said simultaneous restoration efforts are ongoing in areas that are now accessible.*
