Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the Department of Justice is carefully preparing all necessary information and evidence related to the case of the missing sabungeros.
According to Remulla, the investigation is still far from over. He warned that the search for the remains of the victims may take as long as six months, as the bodies are believed to be in Taal Lake, where numerous deaths have occurred.
He noted that recovering human remains from a vast body of water is extremely difficult and time-consuming.
Despite the challenges, Remulla confirmed that the authorities are getting closer to filing charges against those behind the killings. However, he stressed that they want to be completely certain the case is airtight before moving forward.
The case of the missing sabungeros, who vanished under suspicious circumstances, has drawn national attention. Authorities are under pressure to resolve the case, but the complexity of searching underwater areas has slowed progress.
For now, the DOJ remains focused on gathering enough evidence to support legal action and ensure accountability.
