Thousands aspire to wear the badge, but only a few will succeed.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) will accept only 300 out of 2,200 applicants under the Philippine National Police (PNP) Attrition Recruitment Program in Western Visayas.
The figure translates to barely 13 percent of hopefuls passing one of the most competitive entry processes in public service.
PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan said the surge in applicants shows the public’s continued trust and the youth’s strong interest in law enforcement.
He added that many young Filipinos still consider police work a “noble profession” and a form of public service.
The Attrition Recruitment Program fills positions vacated by personnel who retired, resigned, were dismissed, or died. This allows the PNP to sustain its operational strength and presence across the region.
Applicants must complete a series of rigorous tests that include physical agility, neuro-psychiatric evaluation, medical and dental assessments, drug testing, and background investigation.
Ligan vowed that PRO-6 will keep the recruitment process transparent, “merit-based”, and “fair”.
He assured that the office will only select candidates who meet the standards and demonstrate integrity, competence, and commitment to serve.
Ligan said that the 300 successful recruits will strengthen police presence in Western Visayas communities and reinforce peace and order operations.*
