Malacañang has called on the leadership of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) to remain vigilant against groups that may attempt to exploit the organization’s recent protest to destabilize the government.
The appeal followed the circulation of social media posts alleging plans to attack military camps and Malacañang.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the information has not been confirmed but stressed that authorities are not dismissing the reports and continue to monitor the situation.
Castro said security agencies remain alert as they assess the information and evaluate any potential threats.
She also emphasized that Malacañang does not believe the INC intends to create disorder or remove President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. from office.
According to Castro, the government respects the integrity and leadership of the religious organization.
However, she said there have long been groups seeking to remove Marcos from office, prompting the government to remain prepared for possible security threats.
Castro urged the INC leadership to exercise caution and ensure that other groups do not take advantage of the protest for purposes unrelated to its organizers’ intentions.
She said the government’s priority is to safeguard public order while respecting the rights of citizens to peacefully assemble.
The Palace maintained that the reported plans circulating on social media remain unverified.
Authorities are continuing to monitor developments while coordinating with security agencies to determine the credibility of the information.
Malacañang said it will remain prepared to respond to any verified threats while continuing to respect lawful public assemblies.
The Palace reiterated that its appeal to the INC leadership was intended to help prevent any group from exploiting the situation to undermine public safety or government stability.
