Palace confirms Claire Castro will stay as press officer

Claire Castro will remain as the Palace Press Officer, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) acting Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed.

The announcement came after Gomez requested the courtesy resignations of all undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, and department heads within the PCO. Despite the shake-up, Castro is staying in her post.

Gomez issued a special order to all PCO officials and staff on Tuesday, outlining the responsibilities of the Palace Press Officer. The order confirmed Castro’s continued role as the official spokesperson, tasked with holding media briefings and delivering timely statements and clarifications on presidential activities, policies, and positions.

Castro is also in charge of coordinating with the Media Accreditation and Relations Office, the Presidential News Desk, and other units under the PCO that handle press relations and media operations.

Additionally, she will lead the preparation of messaging materials and briefing content for official media engagements.
