Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has officially wrapped filming on Season 2, setting the stage for an epic journey into the Grand Line.
The streaming giant confirmed the milestone with a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast, marking the end of production for the highly anticipated second season. Series creator Eiichiro Oda also shared an update, expressing excitement over the next phase of the show.
“The adventures of Iñaki [Godoy] and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!” Oda announced in a previous statement.
Grand Line Awaits: What to Expect in Season 2
Season 2 will expand the Straw Hats’ story, covering iconic arcs from the manga, including Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. These locations introduce new allies and formidable enemies, pushing Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew to their limits.
Oda, who personally approved the casting selections, visited the South Africa set and met the show’s newcomers, including Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefertari Cobra).
“My casting selections were made from Japan over photos and videos, but seeing them all in person convinced me—they were absolutely the perfect choice!” Oda said.
Among the most anticipated additions is Tony Tony Chopper, the beloved reindeer doctor, who will finally join the live-action adaptation. Co-showrunner Matt Owens confirmed the character’s presence, calling Dr. Kureha (played by Katey Sagal) a major player in the storyline.
“The place we were talking about all of Season 1, we’re in it now,” Owens said, referring to the Grand Line.
