Cagayan de Oro 1st District Congressman Lordan Suan has publicly apologized for signing the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. Speaking on the Tira Brigada program on 102.5 Brigada News FM – CdeO, Suan revealed that the decision was not easy for him, but he explained it was part of his responsibilities as a congressman.
The congressman clarified that he was not threatened or offered any promises in exchange for signing the impeachment complaint. He further explained that had he chosen not to sign, it would have been viewed as siding with the opposition, making it harder for his office to secure needed assistance.
Suan emphasized that his decision did not mean he was turning his back on the Duterte family. Despite his involvement in the impeachment complaint, he expressed continued respect for Vice President Duterte.
The congressman’s comments shed light on the challenges politicians face when making controversial decisions, especially in a highly charged political environment. His explanation provides insight into the pressure he faced while fulfilling his duty as a public official, a responsibility he believes comes with both challenges and tough decisions.
