President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a full investigation into the case of the missing sabungeros following a witness’ disturbing claim that the victims were dumped in Taal Lake.
The directive came after a man, identified only as alias “Totoy,” surfaced and revealed that the individuals involved in the online cockfighting scandal were killed and discarded in the lake.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President wants to identify the real perpetrators behind the disappearances and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
According to Castro, the Department of Justice is now reviewing statements from four witnesses to determine who among them could be turned into a state witness.
Aside from testimonies, Castro emphasized the need for supporting evidence, such as videos or photographs, to help solve the case.
She assured the public that the Palace fully trusts the integrity of the Philippine judicial system to deliver justice to the victims and their families.
The disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts has long drawn national attention, with families demanding answers and justice. This latest development adds urgency to the case, which has remained unresolved for over a year.
