President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to go beyond simply remembering national heroes and instead honor their sacrifices by living out their courage, patriotism and responsibility as citizens.
In his National Heroes’ Day message, Marcos said Filipinos can demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices of the country’s heroes by embodying their bravery, love of country and commitment to responsible citizenship.
The president also emphasized that the spirit of heroism continues through modern-day heroes who serve the country and their communities.
Among those he recognized were soldiers and first responders, as well as teachers, health workers, farmers, fishers and overseas Filipino workers.
Marcos also acknowledged ordinary Filipinos who faithfully work, help others, protect those in need and do their part to contribute to the country.
He urged Filipinos to prove that the nation is worthy of the freedom inherited from previous generations.
The president also called on the public to continue building a “Bagong Pilipinas” for future generations.
Marcos made the call as the country observed National Heroes’ Day, a day dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and contributions of Filipino heroes.
The president also led a National Heroes’ Day program at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Monday morning.
His message centered on turning remembrance into action by carrying forward the values associated with the country’s heroes through patriotism, courage and responsible citizenship.
He said the spirit of heroism is not limited to historical figures, pointing to Filipinos who continue to serve and contribute to the country in different ways.
The president’s message urged the public to recognize both the sacrifices of national heroes and the contributions of Filipinos who serve their fellow citizens today.
