Lacson alerts to anti-Marcos effort

Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson said he believes the recent political developments involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may be part of an organized effort to weaken the administration.

Lacson pointed to two major events that drew national attention: the release of a video from former congressman Zaldy Co and a rally held by Iglesia ni Cristo. He said the timing of these incidents appears deliberate.

In the video posted by Co, he accused Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez of being behind the flood control controversy. The allegations quickly circulated online and fueled debate on government accountability.

Lacson said the sequence of events suggests a possible plan to erode public trust in the administration. He emphasized that his observation is based on the pattern he sees emerging from recent political activity.

The senator also earlier confirmed that he received messages from retired military officials who invited him to join a proposed council or junta. Lacson said he chose to ignore the messages and did not respond.

He did not disclose details about the individuals who reached out or the specific plans they mentioned. However, his revelation added another layer to ongoing talks about political instability and alleged attempts to challenge the current leadership.

Lacson has not accused any specific group of organizing the events but noted that the developments appear connected. The Marcos administration has not released a statement regarding Lacson’s remarks.

The situation continues to draw public interest as questions grow about political maneuvering and the direction of the controversies raised in recent weeks.
