DSWD prepares assistance and specialized equipment ahead of Typhoon Uwan’s impact

Frontline offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are now on full alert ahead of the expected landfall of Typhoon Uwan.

According to Assistant Secretary Leo Quintilla of the Disaster Response Management Group, more than 2 million family food packs (FFPs) have been prepositioned in various warehouses across the country.

The agency has also readied 314,000 non-food items and over 981,000 ready-to-eat meals for communities likely to be affected by the storm.

Starting this weekend until Monday, water filtration kits will be prepositioned in the North Luzon area.

Quintilla also assured the public that specialized equipment—including mobile command centers, mobile kitchens, water trucks, and water treatment units—are prepared for deployment to local government units needing immediate support.
