DOT urges tourists not to cancel trips to Cebu following recent calamities

Cebu remains open for tourism.

The Department of Tourism issued this assurance after a series of calamities struck the province — the earthquake, Typhoon Tino, and Super Typhoon Uwan.

According to Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Cebu’s spirit of hospitality remains strong. She said the province continues to welcome visitors while coordinating with local authorities to fast-track recovery.

Frasco stressed that continued travel to Cebu helps sustain jobs, livelihoods, and the rebuilding of affected communities.

With the help of tourism stakeholders, the DOT will ensure that Cebu is prepared and open to visitors from all over the world.

She also clarified that business districts and major resorts in Mactan Island remain open.

The Tourism chief urged travelers to push through with their scheduled trips to Cebu.
