Department of Justice State Counsel Dennis Chan confirmed that the agency has not received or seen any copy of an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) ordering the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
In a press briefing today, Chan said that once a warrant of arrest is officially issued, the DOJ will have only two possible courses of action—extradition or surrender—and both options are currently being studied.
He also disclosed that they have not spoken with the senator regarding the matter.
It will be recalled that over the weekend, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the ICC had already issued a warrant of arrest against Dela Rosa.
According to Remulla, the case against the former PNP chief is related to the case already being faced by former President Rodrigo Duterte in connection with his war on drugs.
Despite this, the DOJ clarified that it is still verifying reports about the alleged arrest order against the senator.
