Lawyer Levito “Levi” Baligod confirmed that he has received a subpoena issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in connection with an ongoing probe involving 18 individuals identified as former marines.
The subpoena relates to the NBI’s investigation under a “Deputation to Conduct Background Investigation and Verification” concerning the joint affidavit submitted by the group on Feb. 26, 2026.
Baligod publicly acknowledged receiving the document through a Facebook post, where he shared photos of the subpoena. The post included the caption, “Receipt acknowledged.”
According to available information, the affidavit submitted by the 18 alleged former marines contains claims about alleged corruption and illegal transactions involving money reportedly placed in suitcases.
The NBI directed Baligod to appear before the bureau’s Special Action Unit in Pasay City on March 12, 2026, as part of the investigation process.
Authorities said the subpoena requires Baligod’s compliance as part of the bureau’s effort to verify the details surrounding the affidavit.
The NBI said individuals who receive subpoenas are obligated to comply with the directive and participate in the investigation when summoned.
The agency also called on concerned parties to cooperate with authorities as investigators continue to examine the statements and information presented in the affidavit.
The bureau has yet to release additional details regarding the scope of the investigation or whether other individuals linked to the affidavit have also been issued subpoenas.
Baligod’s appearance before the NBI is expected to be part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to review and verify the claims raised in the affidavit submitted by the 18 individuals identified as former marines.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering information related to the case.
