The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has warned government officials and employees that participating in partisan political activities on social media, including liking or sharing posts, may lead to suspension or dismissal.
In its Memorandum Circular No. 03, the CSC emphasized that the 1987 Constitution strictly prohibits government workers from engaging in political activities during the campaign period leading up to the 2025 elections.
According to the commission, any government official or employee who is found violating this rule may face suspension of up to six months for a first offense and dismissal from service for a second offense.
The CSC clarified that even seemingly minor actions such as reacting to, commenting on, or reposting partisan content may fall under prohibited political activity, especially during the official campaign period.
The directive is part of the commission’s effort to ensure neutrality and maintain the integrity of the civil service as the election season approaches.
The CSC called on all government agencies to remind their personnel of the memorandum and the potential consequences of political involvement, especially on social media platforms.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to uphold professionalism and impartiality among public servants in line with constitutional and civil service standards.
