he Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring four weather systems inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, including three tropical cyclones and a low pressure area.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Tropical Depression Pilandok had slightly strengthened and could develop into a tropical storm by Tuesday before weakening again by Wednesday.
The former Tropical Storm Obet, which is now outside the PAR, could re-enter the area in the coming days.
Another tropical cyclone outside the PAR is also nearly stationary, similar to Obet. PAGASA said it could approach Obet’s circulation in the coming days. It could also enter the PAR and make landfall in parts of Taiwan.
The three tropical cyclones are expected to continue strengthening the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, which will bring rains to western parts of Luzon.
PAGASA is also monitoring another low pressure area located far east of the PAR.
The LPA was last located about 3,035 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
Because the system remains far from the country, PAGASA said there is still uncertainty over whether it will enter the PAR.
However, if its track does not change, the LPA could enter the PAR next week.
PAGASA’s monitoring covers the four weather systems as their movements and development could affect weather conditions in the coming days.
The agency continues to track Pilandok, Obet, the other tropical cyclone outside the PAR and the LPA for possible changes in their strength and movement.
For now, the three tropical cyclones are contributing to the strengthening of the Habagat, which is expected to continue bringing rain to western Luzon.
