Student caught with unlicensed .45 pistol inside Northern Samar school

A minor student was found carrying a .45 caliber pistol inside a school in Barangay Dalakit, Catarman, Northern Samar, on Oct. 1.

According to the report, another student alerted a teacher after allegedly seeing the minor carrying a firearm inside the classroom.

The incident was immediately reported to the school administration and the Catarman Municipal Police Station.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol without a serial number, four magazines and 10 rounds of ammunition from the minor.

According to the student, the firearm allegedly belonged to the child’s father.

The Women and Children Protection Desk assisted the minor following the incident. The student was then referred to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for assessment and appropriate intervention.

The police subsequently met with school officials to discuss measures to strengthen safety and security for students, teachers and school personnel.
