A teenage girl was found dead inside her home in Barangay Matilo, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, on Monday night, police said.
The Nabunturan Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Angel Ramirez. Authorities arrested Erwin Solis, the live-in partner of the victim’s aunt, as the suspect in the brutal killing.
Police said Ramirez’s body was discovered by family members inside a bedroom, covered with a blanket. She sustained fatal lacerations on her neck, and bloodstains were found across the bed, walls, and floor.
Although the motive behind the killing remains under investigation, initial reports suggested that the victim might have been assaulted prior to her death, prompting speculation of sexual abuse.
Authorities immediately launched a hot pursuit operation following the discovery. Solis, 27, a laborer and transient resident of the area, was arrested around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday through a joint operation by the Nabunturan MPS, Laak MPS, and the 1st Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Solis is currently under police custody while investigators prepare the necessary documents for the filing of charges through inquest proceedings.
The case remains under thorough investigation as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the teen’s death.
