A 4-year-old boy died while his father was injured after an SUV hit them as they cleaned a tricycle along the roadside in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified by the alias “Neil,” while his 26-year-old father was identified as “Lito.” Both were residents of the barangay.
Initial investigation showed that the father and son were cleaning their tricycle when the SUV suddenly struck them before crashing into a nearby house.
The 39-year-old driver allegedly fell asleep while driving, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
The child died in the incident, while his father sustained injuries. The SUV driver was also hurt.
The driver’s wife and their two children, who were inside the vehicle, were reported safe.
The incident remains under investigation.
