Production for Shrinking season 3 is officially set to begin, bringing fans one step closer to the highly anticipated continuation of the hit Apple TV+ comedy. With filming about to start, actor Michael Urie, who plays Brian, has shared insights into what viewers can expect in the upcoming season.
The new season is expected to serve as the conclusion to the story initially planned by the show’s creators. While it has not been confirmed as the final season, Shrinking follows a similar structure to Ted Lasso, where the original narrative was designed to wrap up within three seasons. This suggests that the upcoming episodes will bring closure to several major storylines.
Michael Urie Praises Season 3 Scripts
In a recent interview with Deadline, Urie shared that the scripts for the new season maintain the show’s signature humor and heartfelt storytelling.
“I’ve seen a few scripts for Season 3, and they are very good, very funny. They know how to write for us so, so well now,” he said.
The series, created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel, has been praised for its balance of comedy and emotional depth. Fans can likely expect more of the same as season 3 delves deeper into the lives of its characters.
The previous season ended on a mix of touching and dramatic moments, including Paul’s heartfelt speech and Jimmy’s desperate attempt to save Louis’ life. Given the trajectory of the show, it’s safe to assume that Shrinking will continue exploring personal growth, grief, and relationships with its signature mix of humor and sincerity.
Filming Set to Begin in Wildfire-Ravaged Altadena
Urie also confirmed that filming will take place in Altadena, a location that was recently impacted by wildfires in Southern California. He expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the community’s recovery.
“We start next week, and you know, a lot of our locations are in Altadena … So, we’re all really happy to be putting something back into that community again and revitalizing what’s been lost there. It’s such a beautiful neighborhood, such a beautiful part of Los Angeles, and we want to help make that beautiful again,” he shared.
As the show returns to production, fans are left wondering about several key details, including whether Brett Goldstein, who plays Paul’s therapist, will make an appearance in season 3. While nothing has been confirmed, viewers are hopeful that all major characters will return for the show’s next chapter.
