Dismayed Education Secretary Sonny Angara denied allegations linking him to anomalies in flood control projects.
This came after former Public Works Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo claimed during today’s Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing that Angara allegedly received 12% kickbacks from the projects.
Angara rejected what he called baseless insinuations, stressing that in his 21 years in government service, he has never been involved in any form of corruption.

Makati Mayor Nancy Binay objected to the mention of her name among those allegedly involved in anomalous infrastructure projects during today’s Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing.
Binay said she has been quietly doing her work as the city’s mayor and has no involvement whatsoever in any paperwork or documents related to flood control projects.
She added that she does not have any Senate employee capable of doing what is being alleged.
Binay firmly stated she will not allow “lies” to distract her from serving the people of Makati.
Former Sen. Grace Poe Denies Involvement After Being Linked to Flood Control Corruption Probe
Former Senator Grace Poe expressed concern over the mention of her name in the alleged corruption involving flood control projects.
Poe was among those cited during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the anomalies tied to the infrastructure projects.
She described the development as unfortunate.
Poe said she supports ongoing investigations, noting that she was among the first to attend the proceedings of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.
She also expressed confidence that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will thoroughly look into the accusations.
In the end, she firmly stated that she has never taken part in any corrupt activity — something she said she can declare openly before the Filipino people.
