Akbayan Party-list has called on the public to remain vigilant amid new revelations involving corruption in flood control projects.
In a statement, Akbayan warned that the developments at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee mark a “dangerous phase” in the Filipino people’s fight against corruption.
Because of this, the group urged citizens to stay alert given the worsening state of politics.
The group also called on the Office of the Ombudsman to immediately file the appropriate cases against senators and House members implicated in the issue—whether they are from the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte or that of President Bongbong Marcos, including the alleged misuse of Vice President Sara Duterte’s multimillion-peso confidential funds.
Akbayan added that the President must confront the allegations raised by his former ally, and that Zaldy Co should return and face the issue.
In the end, the group stressed that it will remain guided by truth, justice, accountability, and democracy. They vowed not to allow the fight against corruption to be hijacked or used as a shield by corrupt officials.
