A large python was rescued after entering the engine compartment of a parked vehicle at a mall in San Pablo, Ormoc City around 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 13.
Mall staff first spotted the snake near nearby plants and quickly sought help from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Ormoc. Responders arrived and attempted to secure the reptile, but the python moved toward a parked car and slipped into the engine area.
BFP personnel were eventually able to capture the snake from inside the vehicle’s engine. Authorities estimated the python weighed about 12 kilograms.
The following day, the snake was turned over to the Environmental and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) for proper handling and care.
