A married couple, aged 51 and 52, were wounded and rushed to the hospital after their 27-year-old son allegedly stabbed them while they were sleeping inside their home in Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City, in the early hours of Monday, Nov. 2.
The suspect fled after the incident but was later arrested during a hot pursuit operation conducted by police officers and barangay officials in Pasobolong, near the riverbank.
Police are investigating the incident, including reports that the suspect was allegedly using illegal drugs, which may have contributed to the attack. However, this information has yet to be officially confirmed.
According to authorities, the suspect will face a complaint for frustrated murder.
In a separate incident, another son allegedly hacked his father while the latter was sleeping in Barangay Tolosa, Zamboanga City. The victim sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital, while the suspect was arrested.
According to the suspect, he wanted to see his father’s blood, prompting him to attack his father with a bladed weapon.
Initial investigation also revealed that the suspect had allegedly gone without sleep for two days before the attack.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents.
