The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte is investigating several national projects, including the ₱500-million Tuganay Bridge, to check their status and implementation.
Governor Edwin Jubahib initiated the probe by forming an inspection team tasked to review the projects and ensure proper completion. The Provincial Development Council has approved the creation of the team.
According to the provincial government, the inspection will cover the Tuganay Bridge and 15 other major infrastructure projects within the province. The move seeks to confirm whether the projects were properly implemented and if public funds were used as intended.
Governor Jubahib said the inspection aims to hold contractors and government agencies accountable should they fail to complete or deliver projects according to approved standards. He added that legal action could be taken against those found responsible for lapses.
The initiative highlights the local government’s effort to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of funds in large-scale national projects.
Provincial officials said the inspection team will begin its work soon, prioritizing projects with significant budgets and those with reported implementation issues. The ₱500-million Tuganay Bridge, in particular, has drawn attention due to concerns about progress and accountability.
