Six of the seven provinces in Central Luzon are among the hardest-hit areas following the combined effects of recent typhoons Luis, Maymay and Neneng, along with the southwest monsoon, or Habagat.
The affected provinces are Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Tarlac, Zambales and Nueva Ecija.
According to a report from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3, a total of 3,866,661 individuals, or more than 1.2 million families, have been affected across the region.
Flooding has been reported in 608 areas, while 88 local government units are under a state of calamity.
More than 73,000 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers, according to the report.
Authorities have also reached isolated barangays to check on residents and deliver needed assistance.
These include Barangay Sta. Fe in San Marcelino and Barangay Babuyan in Sta. Cruz, both in Zambales, as well as Barangay Sta. Juliana in Capas, Tarlac.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to validate reports concerning fatalities resulting from the disaster.
Infrastructure damage has reached P1.86 billion, while damage to other assets has exceeded P1.13 billion.
Government agencies continue to conduct disaster response operations in affected areas.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police are among the agencies involved in search and rescue operations as authorities respond to the effects of the recent weather disturbances.
The RDRRMC 3 continues to monitor the situation and coordinate response efforts in affected areas across Central Luzon.
