Parties, sectoral groups in BARMM advised to re-register with Comelec

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia emphasized that all accreditations of political parties and sectoral organizations intending to participate in the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections have been disregarded or invalidated.

According to Garcia, this includes 20 accredited Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPP) and 191 Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSO).

Because of this, Comelec is reopening the process for groups to file petitions for accreditation either as a Sectoral Organization or a Political Party.

He added that the poll body plans to reopen the accreditation period next week, allowing new applicants as well as previously denied groups to apply.

Under the proposed schedule, Regional Parliamentary Political Parties with at least 5,000 registered voters in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) may file their applications from March 17 to 20 before the Bangsamoro Registration and Accreditation Committee.
