The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement enhanced security and traffic management measures around the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City in preparation for the 49th ASEAN Summit scheduled for November 15 to 17.
The Security Exclusion Zones will be implemented in two phases.
From October 24 to November 8, designated areas will remain accessible but will be subject to security screening and verification at checkpoints.
Meanwhile, from November 9 to 18, access will be restricted to authorized vehicles and personnel with valid credentials.
As part of the measures, the portion of Vicente Sotto Street between Roxas Boulevard and Atang Dela Rama Street will be closed to general vehicular traffic.
Only authorized vehicles and personnel will be allowed to enter designated sections of Atang Dela Rama Street and Magdalena Jalandoni Street.
The MMDA will also implement traffic rerouting along Diokno Boulevard, Macapagal Boulevard, and Roxas Boulevard to help ease traffic congestion.
Motorists and commuters are advised to plan their trips ahead, use alternative routes, allow additional travel time, and follow the instructions of traffic enforcers and security personnel.
The three-day summit is expected to bring together leaders and delegations from ASEAN member states and their dialogue partners.
