Majority of Filipinos support proposal banning political dynasties — survey

More than half of Filipino adults support a proposal to ban political dynasties in the country, according to a recent study.

Results of the 1st Quarter 2026 “Ulat ng Bayan” survey, conducted from February 27 to March 2, showed that 64% of Filipinos favor the passage of the measure.

Majority support was recorded in several areas and socioeconomic groups, including Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the Visayas.

Meanwhile, 17% of respondents opposed the proposal, while 19% said they were undecided.

The measure is also supported by 70% of respondents from Class ABC (upper-to-middle class) and 66% from Class D.

The survey also showed strong public support for limiting the number of government positions that can be held by members of the same family.
