More than half a million people have been affected by Tropical Storm Basyang and the shear line in several parts of the country, according to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The NDRRMC said 579,176 individuals, or 162,501 families, have been affected by the weather disturbances across multiple regions.
Affected areas include Regions 6, the Negros Island Region, Regions 7, 8, 10, 11 and Caraga, the disaster agency said.
Of the total number of affected families, more than 15,000 remain inside evacuation centers as of the latest report. Authorities continue to monitor conditions in the affected communities.
The NDRRMC reported 12 deaths linked to the effects of the storm and the shear line. A total of 36 people were also reported injured.
The agency continues to coordinate with local government units and response teams to monitor the situation and provide assistance to affected communities.
Authorities are assessing the impact of the weather disturbances across the affected regions as conditions improve in some areas.
