Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez is among those recommended to face charges in the draft report of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee over the alleged anomaly involving funds for flood control projects.
Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson said reports claiming that Romualdez was not included in the list of individuals who may be held liable were incorrect.
Lacson said Romualdez and former Senate President Francis Escudero were placed under what the committee described as the “second category.” He said this category includes individuals whose names were mentioned during Senate hearings but for whom there is no direct evidence that they received money.
The draft report is part of the committee’s ongoing review of the alleged irregularities in the use of flood control funds.
Lacson also said members of the Senate majority were scheduled to meet to discuss issues related to the draft committee report. The meeting was expected to tackle concerns and possible actions following the findings presented in the draft.
No final report has been released, and discussions among senators were ongoing as of the latest update.
Further details are expected once the committee finalizes its report and any corresponding recommendations.
