Police official found dead in Camp Catitipan in Davao City

A police lieutenant colonel was found dead inside his quarters at Camp Catitipan in Buhangin, Davao City, on Monday morning, authorities said.

Initial information indicated that the officer was discovered unresponsive inside his room within the camp. Personnel had attempted to contact him earlier to have his vehicle moved in preparation for the scheduled arrival of Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., but he did not respond.

Authorities later forced entry into the officer’s quarters, where they found his body. He was brought to a hospital but was declared dead by attending physicians.

Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death, particularly after a firearm was found near the officer’s body. No further details were immediately released.

In a statement, the Police Regional Office 11 expressed condolences to the officer’s family, loved ones and colleagues. The regional office said the loss was deeply felt across the PRO 11 community and that support was being extended to those affected.

PRO 11 said the incident is under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death. Officials added that more information will be released once details are verified.

Authorities also appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the bereaved family privacy and respect during their time of mourning.
