NBI urges public not to harbor individuals involved in flood control corruption

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has called on the public not to assist or hide individuals implicated in anomalies related to flood control projects.

The appeal came after the agency announced the arrest of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official Dennis Abagon in Quezon City over the weekend, as he attempted to evade the service of a warrant in Cavite.

In a statement, the NBI said this directive aligns with the agency’s mandate and supports the government’s goal of holding all those involved in corruption accountable.

According to NBI officer-in-charge Angelito Magno, the bureau will conduct an investigation to determine any possible liabilities of those who helped Abagon evade arrest.

Magno added that for those who remain at large, it is better to surrender before the law eventually knocks on their doors.
